THE CHALLENGE

A Federal Government Department was hosting a full-day strategic planning event for 70 staff. As part of the day, they wanted to build in an engaging, energising team-building activit,y, something memorable and effective. The client wanted the experience to be fun, interactive, and bring people together, especially those who didn’t normally work closely.

THE CHALLENGE

The experience was not only fun and high energy, but deliberately crafted to reflect the department’s context. From the puzzle themes to the narrative arc, everything was bespoke — which participants noticed and appreciated. Several commented on how much thought had gone into the design and how “on point” it felt for their work.

By the end, teams were buzzing. People who’d never worked together before were joking, debriefing, and recounting their puzzle triumphs. Many described it as “the highlight of the day”.

THE CHALLENGE

I designed a custom escape-room-style game built around a multi-stage narrative, blending immersive storytelling with classic escape-room mechanics. This included puzzles, ciphers, physical lock boxes, hidden clues, and a climactic final reveal.

The design allowed all 70 participants to play at the same time, split into smaller teams. Each team tackled a series of interconnected challenges requiring different skills — logic, lateral thinking, observation, and collaboration — ensuring that everyone had something to contribute.
